Did you catch the coloring mat I shared last week? I used some more of the space themed Color Me fabric and made a quilted blanket for my kids!
This has got to be the easiest quilt to make, just front fabric, back fabric, batting and binding...no cutting and piecing for this one! And it turned out so fun! My kids had a blast coloring it, but I even like the quilt in plain black and white. Here is the quilt before my kids got a hold of it...
And here is they are proudly displaying their work!
Even I got in on the coloring action! It was so fun to lay down with my kiddos on this giant coloring page to help color the space scene.
Want to make a Color Me quilt? You will need...
- 1.5 yards of Space Adventures Color Me fabric
- 1.5 yards of To the Moon and Back Color Me fabric
- 1/2 yard of binding fabric
- quilt batting
Sandwich the batting between the two pieces of Color Me fabric and quilt. I quilted straight lines about 4" apart on my quilt. Trim the edges and bind...That's it!
For more tips on quilting, you can check out my post on assembling your quilt and quilting and my post on binding.
Some of you may already know this about me, I work as an OT. Laying down and coloring is one of my favorite activities for building strength in little ones shoulders and arms. That shoulder strength is so important for other fine motor activities, like handwriting! And it is a really great stress reliever for big people like me :D
This quilt is such a fun springtime activity, we had a blast coloring in the grass in the spring sunshine. It will also be perfect to take to big brothers baseball games, then little sister will have a place to sit and some coloring to keep her occupied!
Thanks for stopping by to check out my Color Me quilt! Make sure you check out all the other stops on the color me tour for more great inspiration!
