The Blue Ribbon Dress {Little Lizard King Pattern Tour}

Today I am so excited to be a part of the Little Lizard King pattern tour!  If you are visiting me today from the Little Lizard King blog, welcome!  I hope you stay and look around a bit.

For the blog tour today, I had the opportunity to sew up the new Blue Ribbon Winner dress.  And just like the name states, this one is a winner!

I have sewn Little Lizard King patterns before (like theHomegrown Tank I tested) and I just love them.  The instructions are clear and easy to follow and the dresses turn out perfect.  This dress and Em’s Homegrown Tank dress are two of the most worn items in her wardrobe.

I sewed this dress up in size 18 months for my tiny almost 2 year old and the fit is great!

This dress has TONS of options I made mine dress length with cap sleeves and a ruffle.  But there are options for no sleeves, short sleeves, long sleeves, tunic length, no ruffles, and there is even a cute little pocket you can sew on the skirt.  With all those options you can make a Blue Ribbon dress for every season, this is a pattern that will be getting sewn year round here.

Let’s talk about this fabric.  This pattern calls for knit fabric for the bodice (or you can upcycle a tee) and woven fabric for the skirt.  For my dress I used a ponte de roma for the bodice, that is currently my favorite knit to sew with, and I used a lycra knit for the neck and sleeve bindings both of those I bought from Girl Charlee.  All the skirt fabrics came from Jo-Ann’s.

I really love dresses with a knit bodice for Em.  The are comfy for her and easy to play in, but the best part is they don’t need to be ironed after they get washed!  Even the ties on this dress are skinny enough that they don’t turn into a wrinkly mess in the dryer.

Make sure you head over to the Little Lizard King’s patternshop and check out all the other great patterns she had there!  You can also see more gorgeous dresses on the other pattern tour stops shown below.
